Background Story From May 2007 to August 2009, Lynsted with Kingsdown Society led a survey of gravestones and inscriptions surrounding the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Lynsted, Kent.  While gravestones date between 1671 (Elizabeth Smith) and 1944 (Archibald Barling), there are also several cremation memorials.  This original research is complemented by earlier researches undertaken by David Wood (churchwarden) of the monuments & inscriptions and hatchments inside the church, which are also recorded on this web site. There is nearby a more recent graveyard extension that has not yet been surveyed. The Society saw the urgency and importance of making a permanent record before further damage is done by weathering.  The Society believe the research should be made widely available to family researchers and to others with an interest in the Parish.
