10 February 2005. Gardening for Wildlife. 7.30 pm: Norton Village Hall: This talk will be an explanation of the ‘certification scheme’ organised by Sallie and David Shaw, who will be talking about the scheme together with one of the garden assessors, Liz Care who has been trained by Kent Wildlife Trust to assess gardens for their value for wildlife.

12th March: “Reading a Church”: Kent History Federation Event: 10.30 am start for an all-day event at St Helen’s Church Cliffe at Hoo.  Professor Nigel Saul, distinguished medievalist at The Royal Holloway College.  Bookings through Amanda Strevens by 31st January as numbers are going to be limited. Our Society is part of the Federation - so our members benefit from being able to take part in KHF Events. Amanda Strevens records her impressions and recommends the Kent History Federation events in the future.

15th April: “Derivation of Place Names”: 8.00 pm: Community Room, Lynsted Church: This is a talk and slide presentation to be given by Dr. Paul Cullen, of the University of Nottingham, who will tell us about the derivation of place names in general with particular reference to Kent and the area around Lynsted. A thoroughly entertaining evening with an audience of 34 - a mixture of members and guests.

15th May: Tour Hole Street Farm Kingsdown Report & Images. REPORTS and IMAGES: By kind invitation of Neil Anderson. A guided tour of the farm, to consider environmental management and changing government farm policy.

11th June: Tenterden Vineyard Visit Report and Gallery of Images: The Taste of Kentish Wines: A talk and tasting from Tenterden Vineyard. Travelling on a green Leyland Titan P.D.2. Double Decker bus of 1948 vintage - this model was first launched in 1927. Driven by the owner, David Powell. Gallery of Images.

29th August: Village Fete: Bank Holiday Church Fete: Learn more about this important community event through the dedicated Website pages. Images now on the www.Lynsted.com website.

9th September: Early Birds - an illustrated talk by Bill Croydon about the role of Sheerness in the early development of aviation to challenge even the stories of Orvill and Wright!

9th October:Fungus Foray Report:Met first in the Community Orchard, Park Farm and then Toll Wood: Jo Weightman, a leading expert in this field organised a day of searching and identifying mushrooms and toadstools in Lynsted. Followed by light lunch and hot drink in the Community Room. Report and Species List here, with photographs. Also look at the Toll Wood Survey of 2000-2001.

28 October: AGM and Speaker on Lord Nelson: “Episodes from a Crowded Life” and AGM. Norton Village Hall. We found this format worked very well last year. The AGM does not take long, when we will be followed by guest speaker Mrs Anthea Bryant. 2005 is the two hundreth anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar.
