About Us & Contacts

In January 2000, several Parishioners got together to create the first Parish Design Statement (2.5Mb downloadable PDF; free copies went to each household).

Surveys undertaken by that Group showed there was an appetite for a non-political, non-campaigning Society that could capture a wide range of interests within the newly enlarged (April 2003) Parish taking in both Lynsted and Kingsdown.  Kingsdown brings part of our Parish into the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). A Steering Group was formed and they were able to show that more than 100 parishioners were interested in this addition to our community life.  They offered a number of ideas through a questionnaire in 2003.  We completed a second survey of our members in 2005 to check that the Committee was delivering what its members wanted.  The news is good! Our Membership has grown to 82 (2006) and we are presenting a programme of events that reflects suggestions made by our Members.

We have a formally agreed Constitution, which should help us apply for grants, take insurance, invite speakers, and so on.  The Society was formally launched at a public meeting on 26 November 2003 and had more than 50 paid-up members in the Spring of 2004.  Membership is open to anyone with an association or interest in the Parish.  Join the Society or find out more.

You are welcome to contact the Society Committee members.
