ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - 27 October 2006

Members of the Lynsted with Kingsdown Society met on Friday 27th October in the Methodist Church for their AGM, followed by a talk on Underground Kent.

The chairman reported on a successful year with increased membership and accounts showing the Society comfortably in the black.

Bob Baxter was re-elected as chairman. The remaining members of the Committee were willing to continue and as the nominations were not contested they were elected.
It was agreed that Subscription rates should stay the same at £12.00 for a single person and £20.00 for a couple.

Members had enjoyed a variety of talks and outings during the past year and were invited to contact the Committee with ideas for future events.

Activities next year will include talks on bridges of Kent, the changing nature of village life and Jane Austin’s Kent. There will be a spring farm walk at Kingsdown Farm.

The Chairman talked about the important part that the internet had played in the Society’s activities, thanks to Nigel Heriz-Smith, who had built an informative website explaining many aspects of Lynsted’s buildings, history and wildlife.

The website advertises Society events and visitors can sign up at www.lynsted-society.co.uk to receive a topical newsletter - just e-mail the webmaster.
