Christmas Party at Aymers

Ding Dong! Merrily at Aymers!

2006 Bob Baxter welcomes usUpwards of fifty members of the Lynsted with Kingsdown Society gathered on 21st December to celebrate the Christmas Season. This year the party was held at Aymers, courtesy of Richard and Elisabeth Sherwin. Delicious home-made sausage rolls, mince pies and fancy savouries, provided by Marlene Disney, Mandi Strevens and Lis Heriz-Smith, were washed down with Pip Strevens’ special mulled wine or Elisabeth’s fruit cup. Then the serious business of carol singing began. This was performed with gusto and considerable skill by those assembled. This year angelic descants embellished some of the carols. And the men even remembered to keep quiet during the ladies’ bits of ‘the Twelve Days of Christmas’!  Jo Sidney, at the piano, expertly led the massed voices in and kept them going throughout the performance.

In all, it was a memorable evening, enjoyed in the marvellous setting of the wonderfully ‘decked halls’ of a fine old building.   Elisabeth and Richard were warmly thanked for opening their home to the Society.

Unfortunately, the event organiser, Norma Baxter, stuck at home nursing a recently broken arm, missed it all! She was very grateful for the generous way in which her ‘team’ had ‘filled in’ for her absence.
