Please note membership renewal is due from 1st January. The Committee have held the price for another year.  £12 single membership; £20 for joint membership.  Membership gives free entrance to talks throughout the year (including our popular Christmas Party) and supports our researches.

19th January

‘The History of Sittingbourne and Milton Regis’ - the first chapter followed by Sheerness HM Dock Yard. Talks with photo-animation by Colin Harvey in Greenstreet Methodist Hall, Lynsted Lane. REPORT

16th March

Events Edith MayREPORT: Presentation by the owner of the “Edith May” coasting Thames sailing barge.  You will have  access to explore the barge before the presentation is made. Some steep steps.
Venue: On-board the “Edith May” at her mooring in Lower Halstow, plenty of convenient car parking space.

1) Supper on-board at 7.00 for 7.30pm .
2) Presentation at 8.15pm when non-diners can join in - free to Members.

17th April

Calving Day - REPORT. More than 50 members and their friends (and children) joined in this enjoyable afternoon - a visit to the working farm of our Chairman (Neil Anderson) during calving season with an opportunity to learn about this mixed arable and livestock farm, and meet new-born calves (the youngest was less than one day old).

Society Annual Heritage Open Day in Lynsted Church.    REPORT

13th June

Members Only: Hay Meadow - by popular request, Keith Dachler will lead a Meadow Walk in East Sussex to give you a rare opportunity to see unspoilt springtime meadow flowers.  Please register your interest in good time with Neil Anderson, so we can arrange guides to suit numbers.

31st July

'Descriptive Tour of a Tudor Yeoman's House'. Guided Visit to Tudor Cottage in Cellar Hill.  Limited numbers, as this is a private house. Tea and home-made cakes in the garden. REPORT.

24th September

Annual Vintage Bus Trip.  Members and Friends. We visited Quex Museum (the Powell-Cotton Museum) and Quex Park, near Birchington.  Local foods in the Barn;  Falconry; secret garden centre; Restaurant. Report due shortly

26th October

Nikki Gammans (Project Officer with the Bumblebee Conservation Trust) spoke on the subject of bumble bees.  REPORT (and early notice of a possible follow-up visit to Dungeness reserve in June 2012)

Society Christmas Party.  We were very pleased to see a record number of people at our Xmas Party this year - all in fine voice and enjoying each other’s company.  Our thanks go to Emlyn & Linda and all contributors on the night.
