The Parish has a long history that includes some interesting family connections.
We have recorded here some memorials from Lynsted Parish Church that illuminate the major families of Roper, Hugesson and so on. Members of the Society also plan to research the gravestones in the churchyard and nearby cemetery.
Alongside the landed gentry were many, many parishioners employed in agriculture and associated crafts or supported the community in other ways. For example, Henry Eve from 1649 (recorded in the Church) was a notably Minister from the district. Latterly, we have traced the relocation of our primary school through an enquiry about a Mr Stephen Back, Schoolmaster in 1861 in the old school, which we believe to be what is now called Vicarage Farm.
