THE COMMITTEE ARE PLEASED TO REPORT THAT THEY HAVE PURCHASED THE EQUIPMENT SUPPORTED BY A “GRASS ROOTS” GRANT WITH THE HELP OF KENT COMMUNITY FOUNDATION These include a mobile PC and projector, a scanner, external hard disk and specialist archiving material for the preservation of historic papers and photographs. IF YOU ARE INVOLVE IN LOCAL/KENT VOLUNTARY OR COMMUNITY WORK, YOU REALLY SHOULD CONTACT KCF, THEY  ARE VERY HELPFUL

Recollections:Norman Wigg recalls the times he lived in Lynsted (including childhood in the Second World War)

 

1940 - Appeal for £1,000 to help restoration of Lynsted Church after a bomb hit it on 15th August

1949 - “Twist of the Collar” - Memoirs of Rev. L E A Ehrmann. Twenty years Vicar of Lynsted

 

UPCOMING EVENTS:

4th July: 2pm start. A Guided Nature Walk in local woodland.  Meet up at Hare Cottage, Kingsdown

5th September: Vintage Bus trip to Sandwich with Guided Walk an optional extra (£2 pre-booked).  Details to follow through a Chairman’s letter going to Members nearer the time.

23rd October: AGM and invited speaker - we are exploring a “food theme” for the talk - if you have ideas, please do contact us.  Venue: Greenstreet Methodist Church.

November or February: Hazel Ryan - Talk on dormice

November or February: Talk by author on the North Downs

April 2010 (very tentative date): we are exploring with the Thomas Clarke Quire group a date for a Georgian music performance based on Kentish composers or music associated with Kent churches.

 

 

There are other events run by the Kent History Federation - noted on the events page.  Our Society is affiliated, so Members of our Society can take part.

 

If you have photographs, illustrations or documents from around the Parish even in its most recent past, please let us record them on this web-site for others to enjoy.
