The Society AGM

In record time, we trotted through the AGM agenda before settling down to a fascinating talk from Hazel Ryan about dormice.

The AGM voted the return of Neil Anderson back as Chairman.  The Committee welcomed the nomination of Elaine Egalton who had previously accepted our open invitation to join one of our Committee meetings as an observer to see if she would like support us.  Remember, if any Society members want to learn more about serving on the Committee.  Just let the Secretary know (Mary Fielding - 521168) just so that we know we have enough glasses, beverage and nibbles ready to welcome you.

A Report of the Dormouse talk and images can be found on the Events archive.

Martin Burney asked - “I am trying to track down the location of a US Army 24th group based at Lynsted during WW2”.  Some of our members recall there may have been camps in Lynsted Park, Sharsted Wood or near Doddington - but do you know any more?  Please do let us know.

NEW: Aerial photograph of Lynsted village in 1968 donated by our generous members, Paolo and Alessia Cuomo

NEW: We have added images to the existing text of the  Aymer Vallance article about Anchor House following the purchase of the article by a Member.  This shows how the house looked shortly before it was bomb-damaged in 1940.
