Place names event - put it in your diary!

15th April: Illustrated talk on Place Names in Kent and around Lynsted - Bogle? Beaugill? Bumpit? Bumpett? Greenstreet? Key Street? All local, with a tale to tell

Recent additions:

• Archaeological Finds along Lynsted Church’s new path
• The mediaeval Lynsted Ring and the story of how it was found
• Edward Hasted’s Survey 1778-1799 Teynham Hundred - Linsted (sic) and Kingsdown.
• Bat Survey Volunteers Sought by Orchard Group
• New Kentish Names and Language Link (supported by the Kent Archeaological Society)
• The Faversham Society supports many events and has a wealth of information
• Greenstreet families - website visitor’s story
• Report on “Gardening for Wildlife” Event and some new links on the natural world
• New Links: Church Plans on-line; Historical Research Group of Sittingbourne (HRGS)
• Bird Box Diary 2005: Video clips added (we have several that do not require broadband to view - although the picture quality is lower).  The nest is filling up the box!

15 May: A New Event for members only - a conducted tour of Hole Street Farm to learn about environmental management under government guidelines

11 June: 10 a.m. start: Member’s visit to Tenterden vineyard on a 1948 vintage double-decker bus.  If you want to join in, here are some details.....

9 October: Fungus Foray with Jo Weightman in local woodland.

There are other events run by the Kent History Federation - noted on the events page.  Our Society is affiliated, so Members of our Society can take part.
