O GOD, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home;
Beneath the shadow of Thy Throne
Thy Saints have dwelt secure:
Sufficient is Thine Arm alone,
And our defence is mire.
Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the Same.
A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.
Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away
They fly forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the opening day.
O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to conic,
Be Thou our guard while troubles last,
And our eternal home. Amen.
THE LORD'S PRAYER (all kneeling).
Priest. O God, make speed to save us.
Answer. O Lord, make haste to help us.
Here, all standing up, the Priest shall say,
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son : and to the Holy Ghost.
Answer. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end. Amen.
Priest. Praise ye the Lord.
Answer. The Lord's Name be praised.

PSALM 23.

THE Lord is my shepherd : therefore can I lack nothing.
He shall feed me in a green pasture; and lead me forth beside the waters of comfort,
He shall convert my soul: and bring me forth in the paths of righteousness, for his Name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff comfort me.
Thou shalt prepare a table before me against them that trouble me: thou hast anointed my head with oil, and my cup shall be full.
But Thy loving-kindness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

HYMN 400 (A. & M.)

CHRIST will gather in His own
To the place Where He is gone,
Where their heart and treasure lie
Where our life is hid on high.
Day by day the voice saith, "Come,
Enter thine eternal home;"
Asking not if we can spare
This dear soul it summons there.
Had He asked us, well we know
We should cry, "O spare this blow I"
Yes, with streaming tears should
pray,
"Lord, we love him, let him stay."
But the Lord cloth nought amiss,
And, since He bath order'd this,
We have nought to do but still
Rest in silence on His Will.
Many a heart no longer here,
Ah! was all too inly dear;
Yet, O Love, 'tis Thou dost call.
Thou wilt be our All in all. Amen.
PRAYERS (including the following, to be sung kneeling).

NOW the labourer's task is o'er;
Now the battle day is past;
Now upon the farther shore
Lands the voyager at last.
Father, in Thy gracious keeping
Leave we now Thy servant sleeping.

There the tears of earth are dried;
There its hidden things are clear
There the work of life is tried
By a juster Judge than here.
Father. in Thy gracious keeping
Leave we now Thy servant sleeping.

HOLY SCRIPTURE. Rev. 21. v. 1-7.

ABIDE with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide;
When other helpers fail, and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
Earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see;
O Thou, Who changest not, abide with me.
I need Thy Presence every passing hour;
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who like Thyself my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.
I fear no foe with Thee at hand to bless;
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness;
Where is death's sting? Where, Grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.
Hold Thou Thy Cross before my closing eyes
Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies;
Heaven's morning breaks. and earth's vain shadows flee
In life, in death. O Lord, abide with me. Amen.

HYMN 379 (A. & M.)

NOW thank we all our God,
With heart, and hands, and voices
Who wondrous things hath done,
In Whom His world rejoices;
Who from our mother's arms
Hath bless'd us on our way
With countless gifts of love,
And still is ours to-day.
O may this bounteous God
Through all our life be near us,
With ever joyful hearts
And blessed peace to cheer us,
And keep us in His grace,
And guide us when perplex'd
And free us from all ills
In this world and the next.
All praise and thanks to God
The Father now be given,
The Son, and Him Who reigns
With Them in highest Heaven,
The One Eternal God,
Whom earth and Heav'n adore,
For thus it was, is now,
And shall be evermore, Amen.
THE BLESSING.
NATIONAL ANTHEM. First verse (all standing)
